Participants give $3,700 boost to Pathfinder fund

BY RÓGER CALERO
Participants in the meeting celebrating the life and work of Priscilla Schenk responded to the fund appeal at the event by contributing $2,400 on the spot to the Pathfinder Fund. A total of $3,755 in pledges was made, including by a number of people who increased their pledges by a total of $1,595.

Socialist Workers Party leader Norton Sandler explained the fund will make it possible for Pathfinder to publish a number of new titles over the coming months, expanding the wide range of revolutionary books and pamphlets already distributed by the publishing house. The $125,000 fund runs through December 15.

Supporters of Pathfinder around the world are organizing to win new pledges and contributions to the fund, including holding local fund meetings over the coming weeks. So far, pledges add up to $44,000.

In Seattle and Los Angeles, for example, Pathfinder supporters have scheduled fund-raising meetings with Ma'mud Shirvani, Pathfinder's Farsi-language editor. The events will feature a talk by Shirvani on "Afghanistan and the Silk Road: 200 Years of the Struggle Against Imperialism." The meetings will be an opportunity to discuss the revolutionary struggles in that region over the past century against imperialist domination, the example set by the Russian Revolution in 1917, and Washington's war against Afghanistan today.
