Harlan County
Memorial for Miners. A memorial service for the nine Harlan County miners who have died in accidents in the past year will be held August 19 at the Harlan Center in Harlan, Kentucky.
U.S. representatives Ben Chandler and George Miller are slated to speak, along with Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America.
The open ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m.
