Detroit Teachers Demand Higher Wages
About 150 teachers, members of the Detroit Federation of
Teachers (DFT), protested in front of Detroit School Board
building August 22, demanding a contract with higher wages.
DFT members were scheduled to take strike vote August 25.
The Michigan state government has new draconian law
restricting such strikes, which was enacted after last
Detroit teachers strike in 1992.
