Irish Fighters Speak In U.S.
Thousands of people heard Sinn Fein leaders Gerry
Adams and Martin McGuinness as they toured the U.S.
East Coast March 11-18. Adams, the president of the
leading party fighting to end British rule in Ireland,
spoke to a crowd of 1,800 people at Seton Hall
University in South Orange, New Jersey. Both
McGuinness and Adams spoke to some 600 people in
Queens, New York, and addressed several other
community events in the region. Adams then went on to
meet with White House officials in Washington, D.C.,
while McGuinness headed for Philadelphia.
