Farmers, Workers In Greece Protest Austerity
Working farmers organize tractorcade in Thessaly, central
Greece, February 2 (above), and threaten to shut country's main
highway. Their demands include debt relief and lower costs of
production. The same day, tens of thousands of workers rallied
outside parliament in Athens to protest government austerity
measures (inset). Public workers waged a series of strikes in
January.
