Up to 5,000 dead from heat wave in France

Workers prepare storage area in Paris August 15 for
bodies of victims of European heat wave. Morgues and
cemeteries have been overwhelmed by the French death
toll, which may reach 5,000. Deflecting blame from
Frances deteriorating health and emergency systems,
Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin blamed society
in general for the abandonment of the elderly.
