Workers at the Mount Pleasant Post Office in central London on October 1. Dozens of postal workers picketed during a 24-hour strike called by the 25,000-strong Communication Workers Union (CWU). They are demanding a £4,000 annual increase in London weightingadditional pay to cover the higher cost of living in London. The CWU and the Unison union, which represents city workers, called a stoppage and march for October 16.
