Piero Gleijeses (top), author of Conflicting Missions: Havana, Washington, and Africa 1959-1976, spoke to 150 people at a February 26 program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He explained Cubas internationalist aid to national liberation struggles in Angola and other African countries, using documents released by the U.S., Belgian, and other imperialist governments to refute Washingtons cover-up of its real role in Africa and to demonstrate the selfless example set by Cuban volunteer soldiers, doctors, and technicians working in the region.
