The film does omit Williams’s activity “in defense of the Cuban Revolution and his collaboration with socialists and others in Black rights and other political struggles,” as the Militant article put it.

As the article highlighted, the best source for the history of the Black rights battles of the 1950s and ’60s—and many other chapters in working-class struggles here and worldwide—is the Militant. The quotes from a number of specific articles of that era sure make this tantalizingly clear!
