Arlette Nixon
I want to point out what I thought was an omission in the photo caption for the article “Black workers and the fight for political power” in the November 17 Militant. The caption reads: “E.D. Nixon, center, speaks at a December 1965 Militant Labor Forum on the 10th anniversary of the Montgomery bus boycott, joined by his wife (left) and Farrell Dobbs (right).

If we are identifying everyone in a photo, I think we should give all of them names. This has a particular resonance if they are women.

The caption should have read “E.D. Nixon … joined by his wife Arlette Nixon (left) and Farrell Dobbs (right).

In reply—We agree. Thanks for pointing out this political error on our part.—Editor

Congo
Thanks for the article in the November 24 issue and editorial on the Congo, so useful in face of all the confusion the situation there creates. Just that the spelling of the French foreign minister’s name is incorrect. It should be Bernard Kouchner.
