STOKE-ON-TRENT, EnglandMore than 200 people protested against racism here January 23. Thomas Robinson, a first-year student at nearby Keele University, said it is important to show an opposition. The countermobilization was a response to a demonstration held by the English Defense League (EDL), a rightist outfit in the United Kingdom that protests capitulation to Muslim extremists. The 1,500 people at the EDL action carried placards that read Patriotism is not racism and Terrorists off our streets. HUGO WILS Front page (for this issue) | Home | Text-version home |
