‘End the deportations,’
say protesters in DC

Juntos
WASHINGTON — Some 2,000 opponents of government anti-immigrant policies from across the country marched to the White House Aug. 2 to demand an end to deportations.
Speaking is Pilar Molina from Norristown, Pennsylvania, who recounted her victory in winning the release of her husband Israel Resendiz on June 19, after nearly five months of detention. He was arrested following his return from Mexico where he attended his father’s funeral. Supporters of Resendiz organized a vigil, took part in other actions, carried out a letter-writing campaign and publicized a hunger strike by him, his brother and another inmate at the Pike County Correctional Facility.
