The sole statue of a woman in the Iraq National Museum in Baghdad’s Neo-Assyrian galleries, which cover 911-612 B.C. Featured instead are massive statues and carvings of kings and their male servants during this period. In the galleries of the museum dedicated to earlier millennia there are numerous images of women, reflecting the dominance of the matriarchy. This vividly reflects how the development of class society led to the subjugation of women.
