We urge our readers to endorse Rachele Fruit, the Socialist Workers Party candidate for U.S. president. There is no other choice you can make that will advance toward a break with the capitalist parties and a step toward independent working-class political action.

Act on your endorsement! Mail the Militant your picture and a short explanation of why you urge others to join in endorsing the SWP campaign, to build support for the working-class alternative to Biden, Trump and Kennedy.

Thousands of workers are using unions to stand up to bosses’ attempts to profit at our expense, and to fight for wages and conditions that can give family members time and energy to study, to be active in unions and have a political life, rather than be torn apart by today’s capitalist crisis. These struggles are inspiring others to organize unions to defend themselves. Workers and the unions need to fight for a program to advance the interests of our class as a whole and unite all those exploited and oppressed by capital.

Alongside today’s labor struggles, millions can see the rulers have no solutions to the social disasters, rising Jew-hatred and devastating wars shaking the U.S.-dominated imperialist world order. Their “solutions” just breed more of the same.

In a million different ways — from the schools, to conditions at work to the daily media — the capitalists and their meritocratic middle-class backers try to teach workers we’re incapable of joining together to change our lot, let alone to change the world. They assert they’re the ones who should be looked to to administer society, falsely claiming to govern for “all of us.” But the capitalist rulers are our class enemy. Any policy based on looking to or collaborating with them, weakens us and strengthens their grip.

All political questions are class questions. The lesser-evil choices the capitalist parties present are a trap. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans — nor any third capitalist campaign — can be bent to advance workers’ interests. We need to build a party of our own, a labor party based on the unions, that brings together and organizes the tens of millions of working people to act on our own class interests, interests we share with fellow workers worldwide.

There is no motion in the unions today to build a labor party. The SWP 2024 presidential campaign offers a unique opportunity to advance that perspective. It offers a way to support what you’re for, not who or what you’re against. A course to advance the self-confidence and class independence of working people.

Your endorsement makes a difference. It encourages others to learn about the alternative that Fruit is presenting, what it will take for working people to end capitalist rule, to bring to power a government we can call our own and to begin transforming the world and ourselves in the process.
