LOS ANGELES — UNITE HERE Local 11 organized a daylong action April 15 to demand a contract with higher wages and affordable health benefits for LSG Sky Chefs workers in front of the company’s facility at Los Angeles International Airport. Workers joined before and after work and during their breaks. They prepare the food and deliver it to the airlines.
“Workers have gone about five years without a contract and only get paid the minimum the law allows for airport workers,” Ana Sheran, an organizer for UNITE HERE Local 11 at Sky Chefs, told the Militant.
“Today we are having actions around the country to show the company we are serious, to talk to workers, inform them of negotiations and that we need to get ready to fight,” she said.
