As we enter the final week to raise $140,000 for the Socialist Workers Party-Building Fund, party branches report success in winning new contributors who are interested in supporting the SWP’s work.

Marklyn Wilson, an SWP member from Atlanta, reports that campaigners have been raising the fund as part of their political discussions with workers on their doorsteps. So far, nearly $30 in such donations has been contributed “from people who want to help us out, out of solidarity.”

This Militant correspondent campaigned with Joel Britton at the afternoon shift change at the plant gate of the Ghirardelli chocolate factory in San Leandro, California, Nov. 6, where the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers union organizes several hundred workers. Many workers there know about the SWP’s record supporting union strikes and other struggles. Three workers who stopped to talk gave $65 to the Party-Building Fund. Five picked up subscriptions to the Militant.

Two SWP branches have raised their quotas, and several say they expect to go over their goals, which will help put the national drive over the top.

To contribute, write a check to “Socialist Workers Party” and send it to SWP, 306 W. 37th St., 13th Floor, New York, NY 10018.
