Working people should reject the assault on democratic rights in Britain under the guise of protecting children. The scapegoating of those who have previously served sentences for sex offenses is an attempt to erode the social solidarity that the working class needs.
The last Tory and current Labour governments are responsible for establishing a national register of sex offenders in the hands of the cops.
The “anti-child abuse” campaign has nothing to do with protecting children. For them children have no value except as future workers to be exploited. It’s the billionaire class and their dog-eat-dog system that are the biggest threat to our class, including children, from their assault on fundamental social rights to the violence they unleash through the cops and fascist-minded gangs, and the wars they drag working people into.

In 1969 and 1970 terrorist attacks were carried out against antiwar, Black and socialist activists in Illinois. A group calling itself the Legion of Justice took credit. It has now been revealed that the Legion was financed, armed and organized by the police department of the city of Chicago and the U.S. Army.
The story that is unfolding underscores the fact that government collusion with ultrarightist forces to destroy movements against oppression and exploitation is not limited to CIA assassination plots in other countries.
A united defense effort, in which the Socialist Workers Party played an important part, forced a halt to the wave of attacks. To combat this type of terrorism, the links between the government and the right-wingers must be exposed.

War-inflated prices have spurred wage demands by unions representing several million workers. In addition to increased basic wage rates, the most significant aspect of recent settlements, particularly in auto, is the widespread inclusion of cost-of-living escalator clauses in contracts.
Unless the workers are in position to raise their basic wage rates, much of the advantage of escalator clauses may be lost over a long period of time. Escalator wage adjustments, at best, are always three months behind prices.
The most serious threat to the workers is a government wage freeze. No one doubts that President Truman intends to invoke his wage-freezing powers as soon as he thinks it expedient, which will not be until after the November elections. This is one big reason why the workers are anxious to get pay increases as quickly as possible.
