The article in the Oct. 28 Militant “Copper miners reject Asarco’s ‘insulting’ offer, shut down mines” incorrectly reported that the Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers union was broken in the 1983-86 Phelps Dodge copper mine strike. That union, however, had merged in 1967 with the United Steelworkers of America, which led the 1983 strike.
