Joining the Militant’s writing staff of full-time volunteers is Leslie Dork, a member of the Socialist Workers Party branch in Northern New Jersey.
Dork joined the Young Socialist Alliance in 1970 in Cleveland, and the party later that year. She worked in the YSA’s national office in New York from 1971-72.
In the early 1980s Dork was a garment worker and member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union in New York. From 1984 to 1986 she volunteered as a secretary in the party’s national office.
In the 1990s Dork moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she continued to build the party, helping to organize support for the Cuban Revolution and joining campaign efforts in several states. She worked there as a nurse practitioner for 25 years.
