CHICAGO — “Welcome to the new campaign headquarters of the Socialist Workers Party and Militant Labor Forum Hall!” Naomi Craine, a leader of the Chicago branch of the SWP, said, as she introduced featured speaker Minneapolis SWP mayoral candidate Kevin Dwire to those attending a special forum here Aug. 2. Dwire spoke on the need for the working class to take political power, the only road to end capitalist exploitation and wars. Participants enjoyed a delicious meal before the program and stayed for dessert and conversation well into the evening.
The street level hall is in Archer Heights, a working-class neighborhood on the city’s southwest side. Pathfinder books are on full display on bookshelves that line the walls, showcasing works by leaders of the SWP and other revolutionary fighters. The attractive and accessible space will also be the headquarters for the soon-to-be-launched 2026 SWP campaign for U.S. Senate in Illinois.
